DAY 1: Iguazu

DAY 2: Iguazu
Your full-day tour immerses you in the majesty of Iguazu Falls, one of the world’s largest waterfalls and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. First view the spectacular vistas from the Argentine side of the falls before lunch at a restaurant overlooking the falls on the Brazilian side. Then your excursion takes you into the jungle of the national park, followed by a thrilling boat ride up to the thundering spray of the Devil’s Throat cataract.”
DAY 3: Iguazu & Rio de Janeiro
Fly to Rio de Janeiro, one of the world’s most vibrant cities. Once here, you will take a cable car up famous Sugar Loaf Mountain for breathtaking views of Rio. Check in to the famed Rio Copacabana, where you will stay in a deluxe ocean/pool-view suite for the next 4 nights.
DAY 4: Rio de Janeiro
Corcovado means “hunchback” in Portuguese, and Rio’s most famous mountain lives up to its name. Take a railway ride to the top to view the famous 125-foot-tall Christ the Redeemer statue. This afternoon, take a relaxing schooner cruise in picturesque Guanabara Bay— where you will get a prime perspective on the city. Tonight, you will get to know “Rio by Night” with a lavish barbecue dinner followed by a riveting samba show.
DAY 5: Rio de Janeiro
Today’s fascinating colonial tour features 400 years of history with visits to the National Historical Museum and the Royal Palace. Lunch will be at the famous Colombo Teahouse followed by a musical performance by local schoolchildren. Tonight is yours to enjoy at your leisure.
DAY 6: Rio de Janeiro
Today is at your leisure to further explore Rio on your own. You might choose to stroll along one of Rio’s famous beaches, or go shopping for some local crafts. Maybe you will even choose to track down a samba lesson and learn Brazil’s most famous dance for yourself.
DAY 7: Rio de Janeiro & Manaus
After breakfast, take your five-hour flight to Manaus, a beautiful city and gateway for your Amazon cruise. Once there, you will board the 5-star Iberostar Grand Amazon and settle in to your balcony stateroom for your 7-night Amazon cruise. You start your cruise with the Captain’s Welcome Cocktail Party and Dinner.
DAY 8: Amazon Cruise
You will arrive at Igarapé do Jaraquí for today’s land or boat excursion into the Amazon jungle to see indigenous flora and fauna. Enjoy lunch aboard as you cruise, followed by a lecture on Amazon wildlife. Arrive at Três Bocas and join a boat excursion through the lakes and igapós or go piranha fishing. The evening is yours to dine onboard, listen to music and look for alligators along the Negro River.
DAY 9: Amazon Cruise
More Amazonian enticements await you today—a boat excursion through the lush marshland or a tour through the jungle to see the river’s famous pink dolphins. Then, a fascinating late-morning lecture on the fish of the Amazon and afternoon activities take you back to explore the Amazon’s landscape.
DAY 10: Amazon Cruise
This morning’s highlights on the Cuieiras River include a visit to a riverside community, where you will meet local Amazon Indians and learn about their lives and culture. Later, attend a lecture on the region’s abundant birds, and enjoy free time at Praia Grande Beach. Tonight, you will be treated to a performance by locals in a fun-filled folkloric show.
DAY 11: Amazon Cruise
This morning you encounter the encontro das agues, (means “meeting of the rivers”) which is the confluence of the Negro and Solimôes Rivers. Return to Manaus, where you will enjoy a tour of the city including the famous Opera House and the Municipal Market. Later, have dinner aboard and enjoy an evening of music as you cruise among the Amazon’s lush and vibrant riverside landscapes.
DAY 12: Amazon Cruise
Early this morning, you sail along the Manacapuru River, a tributary of the Amazon. The morning’s activities include a photo safari to capture the region’s amazing and colorful wildlife or a fascinating lecture on the people and cultures of the Amazon region. This afternoon you have the option of going on a boat excursion into the rainforest or fishing for piranha.
DAY 13: Amazon Cruise
This morning you will arrive at Janauacá—get out your binoculars and cameras for some fantastic birdwatching on Janauacá Lake. Later, you can take a boat to visit a local community or go for a jungle excursion. An afternoon lecture highlights the region’s unique plants and fruits. Tonight is your final evening onboard—with highlights including the Captain’s Farewell Dinner and a special folkloric performance.
DAY 14: Manaus
Your last morning you arrive back in Manaus and transfer from the pier to the airport for your flight back home.
